How to run an AI workshop at your offsite, and keep it human

Every company is figuring out AI. The offsite is the best room to decide how, together, and what stays human.

A small team in a workshop around a laptop

AI workshops at offsites tend to go one of two ways. A vendor demo that everyone forgets by dinner, or a real conversation that changes how the team works on Monday. The difference is design.

Start with the work, not the tools

Ask every team to bring one task that eats their week. That list becomes the agenda. The question is never “what can AI do?” It is “what should we stop doing by hand, and what must stay ours?”

  3. Bring your workEach team maps one painful task
  4. Try it liveSmall groups test AI on their own task
  5. Draw the lineWhat stays human, and why
  6. Three experimentsOwners and a review date

Before the workshop

  • Survey the team: excitement and worries
  • Each team picks one real task to bring
  • Agree what data can and can’t be used
  • Invite a facilitator who is not selling a tool
  • Plan the human moment that follows
