Why Palm Springs

It changes the pace.

The hotels are right there. Palm Springs has more retreat-ready hotels and full buyouts per square mile than almost anywhere in California, from a 600-person ballroom to a seven-room hideaway, all within minutes of each other.

It’s easy to reach and central to everything. About an hour’s flight from San Francisco, two hours’ drive from Los Angeles, and ten minutes from the airport to the pool. The whole Coachella Valley opens up from here.

It’s rooted in the mountains. The San Jacintos rise straight out of town, and the land carries a native, spiritual feel you notice the moment you slow down.

Nature is the point. Joshua Tree and the High Desert are an hour away, for sunrise hikes, breathwork and sound baths under a very big sky.

We don’t choose Palm Springs because of the weather. We choose it because it changes the pace.

Questions

Planning a retreat in Palm Springs.

How far is Palm Springs from San Francisco?

About a one-hour nonstop flight from SFO to Palm Springs International (PSP), which sits ten minutes from downtown and many of the resorts. Your team can leave the office in the morning and be poolside by lunch.

When is the best time for a company retreat in Palm Springs?

October through May. Summer afternoons are very hot, so if you go then, we schedule strategy sessions early and move the rest of the day indoors or to the pool.

What size groups can Palm Springs handle?

From a leadership team of three in a private buyout home to a kickoff of several hundred. Thompson Palm Springs’ ballroom holds up to 600, and boutique buyouts like L’Horizon and Sparrows Lodge seat about 100.

Can we add Joshua Tree to the retreat?

Yes. Joshua Tree and the High Desert are about an hour away. We often pair a Palm Springs base with a day of hiking, breathwork or a sound bath in the desert.

How much does a Palm Springs retreat cost?

As starting points, about $9,400 per night for a boutique buyout of the whole property, about $1,700 per person per day at a full-service resort and $2,200 per person per day for luxury or reward trips, before flights. Every TRO budget is built line by line for your group.

Who plans and runs the retreat?

The Renewal Office designs it around your goals using the TRO Six Pillars, then handles venue, programming, facilitators and production from the first call to the week after.
