Why Napa Valley
Close enough to drive, far enough to reset.
Napa is the easiest escape for the whole Bay, not just San Francisco. Teams from the East Bay, the Peninsula and the South Bay can be among the vines in a short drive, and it feels like a different world the moment the valley opens up.
The land has held people for a very long time. The Wappo bathed in the warm springs at the top of the valley for thousands of years, and in Calistoga, Indian Springs still runs mud baths and an Olympic-size mineral pool fed by its own geysers and volcanic ash.
Wine here can be more than a tasting. Biodynamic estates like Quintessa and Grgich Hills farm by the moon and the seasons, and we love a session with winemaker Ross Halleck, who leads Wine as Plant Medicine ceremonies around the solstices and equinoxes and talks about wine as something ancient people used for going inward.
The properties are built for this. Resorts like Carneros and Silverado have real meeting space, and smaller estates like Milliken Creek and Sttupa can be booked whole, so a team can hold a strategy session in the morning and a quiet ceremony at night without leaving the grounds.
We bring teams to Napa when connection is the goal and the long table is where it happens.

Questions
Planning a retreat in Napa Valley.
How far is Napa Valley from the Bay Area?
About an hour to an hour and a half by car from San Francisco and the East Bay, a little longer from the Peninsula and the South Bay, depending on traffic and where in the valley you stay. Oakland and Santa Rosa airports are each about an hour away.
When is the best time for a retreat in Napa?
Spring and fall. Harvest season, roughly August through October, is beautiful and busy, so book early.
What size groups fit in Napa?
From small leadership teams to large groups, with resorts offering substantial meeting space and buyouts.
What can a team do in Napa?
Biodynamic estate walks, chef’s dinners, vineyard mornings, mud baths and mineral pools in Calistoga, sound baths and strategy sessions.
Can a Napa retreat go deeper than wine tasting?
Yes. Wine can be the doorway rather than the point. We build in a wine ceremony with winemaker Ross Halleck, who leads Wine as Plant Medicine sessions on wine as a way of going inward, walks on biodynamic estates that farm by the moon, and the Wappo-era springs and mud baths of Calistoga.
Who plans and runs the retreat?
The Renewal Office designs it around your goals using the TRO Six Pillars, then handles venue, programming, facilitators and production from the first call to the week after.
