Why Los Angeles

Six cities in one.

Los Angeles is not one place. It is a beach town, a canyon hideaway, a music strip, a creative east side, a historic downtown and a foothill resort town, all within about an hour of each other.

That makes it the easiest city to match to a goal. A team that needs to breathe goes to the water. A leadership group that needs quiet goes up the canyon. A company that needs to celebrate goes to Sunset.

Two big airports, nonstop flights from almost everywhere and year-round weather mean nobody has to fight to get there.

LA is one of the three cities the office calls home, alongside Palm Springs and San Francisco. We know which rooms, which trails and which tables are worth it.

Questions

Planning a retreat in Los Angeles.

How far are the hotels from LAX?

Santa Monica is about 25 minutes from LAX, Bel-Air and downtown about 30 to 45 minutes, depending on traffic. For Pasadena and the east side, Burbank airport is usually closer and easier.

When is the best time for a retreat in Los Angeles?

September to November and March to May are the best windows: warm days, cool nights and fewer crowds. May and June often bring morning marine layer at the beach.

Where in Los Angeles should we base the team?

It depends on the goal. The beach suits a team that needs to breathe, Bel-Air suits a leadership reset, West Hollywood suits a celebration, and Pasadena or downtown suits a full company gathering. We usually base the group in one neighborhood and plan outings to the others.

How do you handle LA traffic?

We keep the team in one base and schedule outings outside rush hour, with private transport so nobody drives. Most days have one move at most.

Who plans and runs the retreat?

The Renewal Office designs it around your goals using the TRO Six Pillars, then handles venue, programming, facilitators and production from the first call to the week after.
