Why Catskills

Mountains made for unplugging.

The Catskills feel far from everything, but most of our properties sit about two hours from Manhattan. Cell service thins out in places, and that helps.

The days build themselves around the outdoors. Waterfall hikes, the trout rivers around Livingston Manor and long evenings by a fire pit give a team time to actually talk.

The stays are small and full of character. Many can be booked whole, from a 12-room inn on 600 acres to Airstreams around a clubhouse near Woodstock.

We bring teams to the Catskills when they need to switch off, slow down and come back with a few clear decisions.

Questions

Planning a retreat in Catskills.

How far are the Catskills from New York City?

Most of the properties we use are about 2 to 2.5 hours by car from Manhattan. Albany (ALB) and New York Stewart (SWF) are the closest airports, each about an hour away.

When is the best time for a retreat in the Catskills?

June through October is the main season, with long hiking days in summer and peak foliage in October. Winter works well for ski-in groups near Hunter and Windham, and spring brings strong waterfalls and lower rates.

What size groups fit in the Catskills?

The region is best for small and mid-size teams. The DeBruce and Eastwind suit groups under 25, Hemlock Neversink can be bought out for 25 to 33 guests, and Wylder Windham seats up to 200 in its lodge.

What can a team do in the Catskills?

Hike to Kaaterskill Falls, fly fish the rivers around Livingston Manor, zipline at Hunter Mountain, cook with local chefs and spend evenings around a fire. We pair each activity with focused working sessions.

Who plans and runs the retreat?

The Renewal Office designs it around your goals using the TRO Six Pillars, then handles venue, programming, facilitators and production from the first call to the week after.
