Why San Juan Islands
The ferry ride is the first session.
You cannot rush to the San Juans. The ferry from Anacortes winds through the islands for an hour or more, and by the time you land, the team has already slowed down.
San Juan Island and Orcas Island each have their own pace. Roche Harbor has a historic harbor and lawn for events. Orcas has Moran State Park, Mount Constitution and quiet coves.
The stays are small and personal. Harbor resorts, waterfront cabins and island inns host groups well but never feel like convention hotels.
We bring teams to the San Juan Islands when they need distance from the day-to-day, and are willing to take a boat to get it.

From the office
Why we bring teams here.
We bring leadership teams and small companies here when they need to step far away from the inbox without leaving the Northwest.

Questions
Planning a retreat in San Juan Islands.
How long does it take to reach the San Juan Islands from Seattle?
Plan on 3 to 4 hours by car and ferry: about 1.5 hours to Anacortes, then a ferry of roughly 1 to 1.5 hours to Friday Harbor or Orcas. Seaplanes from Seattle take about an hour.
When is the best time for a retreat in the San Juan Islands?
May through September brings the driest weather and the best odds of seeing orcas. Summer ferries fill up, so we book vehicle reservations early. Spring and fall are quieter.
What size groups fit in the San Juan Islands?
Most stays fit 20 to 130 people. Roche Harbor's Pavilion holds 130, while Doe Bay and Friday Harbor House suit smaller teams.
What can a team do in the San Juan Islands?
Kayak among the islands, look for orcas from the water or Lime Kiln Point, hike Mount Constitution, and eat from island farms and oyster beds. The ferry ride itself becomes part of the program.
Who plans and runs the retreat?
The Renewal Office designs it around your goals using the TRO Six Pillars, then handles venue, programming, facilitators and production from the first call to the week after.
