Why The Berkshires

Culture, countryside and real rest.

The Berkshires sit almost exactly between New York and Boston, so a split team can meet in the middle. Both cities are about two and a half hours away.

Wellness is built in here. Miraval, Canyon Ranch and Kripalu have spent years helping people slow down, and their teachers can run sessions for your group.

Culture fills the gaps. Tanglewood in summer, the Clark Art Institute and Mass MoCA, Hancock Shaker Village and Edith Wharton's The Mount are all a short drive.

We bring teams to the Berkshires when they want rest and big thinking in the same week.

Questions

Planning a retreat in The Berkshires.

How far are the Berkshires from New York and Boston?

Lenox is about 125 miles from New York City and about 135 miles from Boston, roughly 2.5 to 3 hours by car from either. Albany International Airport is about 45 minutes away.

When is the best time for a retreat in the Berkshires?

June through October. Summer brings Tanglewood and long evenings outdoors, and October is peak foliage, so book early. The wellness resorts run year-round and winter is quiet and good value.

What size groups fit in the Berkshires?

Kripalu takes private group retreats from 15 people, The Williams Inn (64 rooms) can be bought out whole, and Miraval Berkshires and Canyon Ranch Lenox host larger corporate groups with full wellness programming.

What can a team do in the Berkshires?

Hike Mount Greylock, climb the treetop course at Ramblewild, tour the Clark Art Institute or Mass MoCA, cook with local farmers and join yoga, breathwork and spa sessions at the wellness resorts. We pair each activity with focused working sessions.

Who plans and runs the retreat?

The Renewal Office designs it around your goals using the TRO Six Pillars, then handles venue, programming, facilitators and production from the first call to the week after.
