Why Traverse City
Two bays, one peninsula, and room to think.
Traverse City sits at the foot of Grand Traverse Bay, where the Old Mission Peninsula splits the water in two. Within half an hour you have orchards, tasting rooms, beaches and a walkable downtown with real restaurants.
It is easy to reach. Cherry Capital Airport has nonstop flights from Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis and a long list of other hubs, and the big resorts are only minutes from the gate.
The season is the honest catch. From June to mid-October the bays are warm, the farms are open and the evenings run late. From November to April it is a snow town, which suits ski and spa groups but not much else.
We bring teams to Traverse City when they want a summer or fall offsite with water, wine country and easy flights, without the price of a coastal resort.

Why we bring teams here.

Questions
Planning a retreat in Traverse City.
How far is Traverse City from Chicago and Detroit?
About 5 to 5.5 hours by car from Chicago and about 4.5 hours from Detroit. Most teams fly instead: Cherry Capital Airport (TVC) has nonstop service from both cities and is about 15 minutes from downtown.
When is the best time for a retreat in Traverse City?
June through mid-October. July is peak season and gets busy around the National Cherry Festival, while September and early October bring fall color and better rates. Winter runs from November into April, so we only plan snow or spa retreats then.
What size groups fit in Traverse City?
Almost any size. A 12-room winery inn suits a small executive team, downtown hotels work for 20 to 200, and Grand Traverse Resort can host several hundred people.
What can a team do in Traverse City?
Paddle or sail on Grand Traverse Bay, tour orchards and tasting rooms on the Old Mission and Leelanau peninsulas, climb the dunes at Sleeping Bear, and take a hands-on cooking class with local produce.
Who plans and runs the retreat?
The Renewal Office designs it around your goals using the TRO Six Pillars, then handles venue, programming, facilitators and production from the first call to the week after.
