The sales kickoff, our way: workshops that get a team GTM-ready, and a celebration they will remember
Slides tell a sales team the plan. The right workshops get them ready to run it. Then you celebrate like it matters.

Most sales kickoffs are built from the same parts: a keynote, a product update, a few breakouts and an awards dinner. It works, sort of. The team leaves informed. They do not always leave ready.
We build kickoffs around one question: what does this team need to believe, practice and feel to hit the number? Here is how our workshops answer it, and how we stage the night everyone talks about afterward.
Part one: workshops that build a go-to-market team
Team Archetypes: know how each person sells.
Every rep has a natural way of winning. Some are Warriors who thrive in a tough close. Some are Caregivers who keep customers for years. Some are Explorers who open new markets. When a team can see its own mix, managers pair people on deals more wisely, and reps stop trying to sell like someone they are not.
Brand Archetypes: one voice from marketing to the close.
Bring marketing and sales into the same room and map the brand the way we map a team. Who is the brand when it walks into a meeting? When everyone agrees, the story a buyer hears in the ad matches the one they hear on the call.
Intuitive Teamwork: handoffs built on trust.
Blindfolded exercises sound strange on a sales agenda. They are the fastest way to show SDRs, AEs, sales engineers and customer success where handoffs break, and what it feels like to rely on each other.
Breathwork: composure on demand.
A short guided practice, and a three-minute version every rep can use before a hard negotiation or a pricing call. Calm is a competitive advantage, and it can be learned.
Intuition and decision-making: read the buyer.
Discovery is listening for what the buyer is not saying. This workshop sharpens the instinct great sellers already trust, and gives newer reps a way to practice it.
Sound meditation: recovery before strategy.
Placed the night before the planning day, it resets a team running on travel and adrenaline, so the next morning’s decisions are clear ones.
Part two: the plan, practiced
Keep the strategy portion short and real. The number and why it matters. The two or three plays that will get you there. Then practice: role plays on real objections, live deal reviews, and every rep leaving with their first 30 days on one page.
Part three: staging the celebration
When and where.
The closing night, when energy is highest. Skip the hotel ballroom. A private estate, a long table under the desert sky, or a fire with the mountains behind it changes how the moment feels and how it is remembered.
Awards worth winning.
Reward the behaviors you want more of, not only the biggest number, and give every role a real chance. Keep it to 8 to 12 awards and publish the criteria early, so winners feel earned. Our favorite twist is to name awards after the archetypes the team just learned:

How to run it.
- Keep the ceremony to 20 or 30 minutes, inside dinner, not after it.
- Have a peer tell a short, specific story about each winner. It means more than a stat on a screen.
- Give each award its own music cue, and have a photographer ready for the reaction, not just the handshake.
- Save the top award for last.
- Bring remote winners in live, with their award already on their desk.
- Make the keepsake something with meaning. We like an illustrated card for each archetype, the kind people keep on their desk all year.
After the night.
Send the winners and photos to the whole company within 48 hours, and publish next year’s criteria the same week. Recognition is fuel. Keep it burning.
A three-day shape
- Day one: arrive, opening dinner, the year’s story from leadership.
- Day two: Team Archetypes and Brand Archetypes in the morning, practice and deal reviews in the afternoon, sound meditation at dusk.
- Day three: breathwork, the 30-day plans, then the closing celebration and awards.
We design sales kickoffs as part of our Team retreats, around one goal and the number that matters.
