The week after: how to make a retreat stick

Everyone comes home lit up. By the second Monday, the inbox has won and the retreat is a group photo.
It does not have to go that way. The work that makes a retreat stick happens in the first days after it ends.
Within 48 hours: send the recap.
Keep it short. What we decided. Who owns each decision. When we will check in. People forget fast, and a recap turns a good feeling into a shared record.
Name an owner for every decision.
A decision without a name on it is a suggestion. Every commitment made on retreat needs one person responsible and one date attached.
Keep one ritual.
Pick one thing from the retreat and bring it home. Three minutes of breath before a hard meeting. A walking one-on-one. A weekly question the team answers together. Small rituals carry the feeling back into the office.
Ask how it landed.
Send a short survey within the week. What shifted for you? What do you want more of? What did not work? Compare it with how people felt before you left. Now you have proof, not just photos.
Check in at 30 days.
Put it on the calendar before everyone scatters. Review the decisions, celebrate what moved and reset what did not. This one meeting is the difference between a retreat and a turning point.
Plan the next one.
The best time to plan the next gathering is while this one is still fresh. You know what worked, and the team wants more.
At The Renewal Office, integration is part of every retreat: the recap, the surveys and the follow-up are built in, so the change your team felt on retreat is still there a month later.
